The restaurant offers weekly features in addition to our regular menu, with fresh seafood or fish every Friday. Choose wines by the bottle or glass from our extensive wine list or enjoy one of the 24 craft beers on tap. Wednesdays choose a specialty cocktail for just $5. Every Thursday domestic draft beers are $2 and you’ll pay only $3 for craft drafts.

Rick Bruggeman – Chef

Patrick’s is proud to have Chef Rick, and we know you’ll love his world class cuisine.

Chef Rick Bruggeman hails from Chicago, where he started in the restaurant business at the age of 14, working at the famous German restaurant Zum Deutschen Eck. While working he attended the Washburne Trade School, majoring in Culinary Arts. In 1984 he moved his family to Northwest Indiana to work at the historic restaurant “The Spa,” located in Porter. After 5 years he made his move to a local country club in Michigan City, where he was Executive Chef for over 25 years.

Rick’s popularity as a fine chef grew during this time, as he offered guests outstanding casual to world class experiences in dining. He continued his education by attending the Culinary Institute of America, keeping up with new trends and partnering with local sources for fresh ingredients. For Chef Rick the culinary profession is more than a job – it’s his passion.

Julie Krause – General Manager

From General Manager to head of Patrick’s Catering and Events, Julie wears many hats at Patrick’s Grille.

After 20 years in the dining and event planning industry, Julie knows a good catering venue when she finds one. She is using her expertise to spearhead Patrick’s Catering and Events, a company rising to meet the demand for high-quality catering service in the area.

Julie developed her career in the industry at Pottawattamie Country Club in Michigan City, starting on the business side and making her way to special events and member services. Before working for Patrick’s Grille Julie worked in catering and sales for Blue Chip and Ameristar Casinos.

When working with our catering staff, Julie is the person who will make sure you needs are met and the job done to perfection. “No event is too big or too small for us to work with,” she says, “Just because we offer a high-end experience doesn’t mean we’re not willing to work within a tighter budget. We can make it as fancy or as simple as you like it.”

Julie is skilled at offering a full-service experience.

Patrick Wilkins – Owner

Patrick’s Grille was established by local entrepreneur Patrick Wilkins. Patrick started in the business world of air compressors, working for Sullair for several years until starting his own company, Boss Industries. As Boss grew Patrick was required to travel all over the world, and through his travel developed his love of restaurants and cuisine. He is pleased to bring his favorites to Michigan City to share with his friends and family.

A business man at heart, Patrick surrounded himself with a staff who knew the restaurant industry from the inside out, and as a team set forward to make Patrick’s Grille a success and meet the need for a high-end dining experience in Michigan City. He prides Patrick’s on serving a high-quality fine-dining experience while providing a comfortable environment, welcoming friends to gather for any occasion.
